RAISING CONCERNS
As a medical student you have a professional responsibility to raise any concerns you may have on your placement in relation to patient safety, equality and diversity or academic issues.

In line with the GMC, staff will receive training on equality and diversity to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and the issues that need to be taken into account when undertaking their roles in the medical school. The medical school will act promptly over any concerns.

It is extremely important that any matters are reported to your clinical supervisor at the time.
Your supervisor can advise if a Datix is required to be submitted to the Trust or if the issue should be referred directly to the Hospital Dean. As these concerns must be addressed within a suitable time frame, it is important that you raise them at the time and not via end of block/placement surveys.

Please be assured that any issues reported will be dealt with via the suitable channels to ensure that correct procedures are followed and escalated to the appropriate clinicians.

You can also report issues directly to Keele Medical School if you wish.
