National Stress Awareness Day

The first Wednesday of November is Stress Awareness Day, and the Trust has put together some resources that might be useful to you whether you are stressed, or looking to avoid it.

Our Mental Health Champions will be based in the Mytton Oak Restaurant between 11 and 1 today and will be providing advice and signposts for support on managing stress.
If you are unable to visit the stand here are some resources that may be useful for you:
· Stress Awareness Article
· Free Shift Your Stress program - Five weeks intervention based on CBT. This is a self-managed therapeutic intervention that is focussed on the development of psychological resilience. Complete the programme and take a significant step towards building the tools to mitigate workplace stress and promote overall psychological wellbeing. View more information here.
· Stress Risk Assessments - The Stress Risk Assessment process allows for the assessment of the causes of work-related stress and the introduction of prevention and control measures. These can be found on the SaTH intranet.
· Mindfulness - The Trust runs a one day and eight-week structured stress reduction mindfulness programme to alleviate the suffering associated with stress and anxiety. You can book onto these directly via the Training Diary.
· Every Mind Matters – Feeling Stressed? One You has compiled information on what can cause stress, and possible signs and a top ten ways to deal with stress and further information on how to keep your mind and body healthy. View further information here.
· Team Prevent Resources - available on the SaTH intranet or by contacting Team Prevent

· Advice on Managing Stress – Explains what stress is, what might cause it and how it can affect you. Includes information about ways you can help yourself and how to get support. https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/stress/what-is-stress/
· Get Your Mind Plan - Take a quiz to get your free plan, designed to help you feel more in control, deal with stress and anxiety, boost your mood and improve your sleep. Find the quiz here.
· Care First - Counselling and support service for staff. Free and confidential and can be accessed 24/7. View more information here.
As medical students you are also able to contact Student Welfare at
medicine.sath-studentwelfare@keele.ac.uk and organise a meeting. Meetings with Student Welfare are strictly confidential and will not be put with your student file. Unless someone is at risk, whatever you say in the meeting will stay between you and Dr Jones-Perott.
