We've finally reached the end of the first semester of the 20/21 academic year and we're all looking forward to a well deserved short break. To keep your brains active during the next couple of weeks we've posted below the SaTH libraries festive Christmas quiz which is back again this year, courtesy of PRH Library Assistant Sarah Rochelle. The quiz is just for fun, no prizes. Have a go at these festive brain-teasers, but if you get really stuck you can contact the library for the answers. 24/7 access to the library is available at both sites, please ask library staff if you would like out of hours access. More information about library facilities out of hours can be found here.

Students staying in Shropshire over the Christmas break :- The University have a new web page which lists the activities taking place over Christmas which the SaTH students staying local to you could take part in virtually. https://www.keele.ac.uk/coronavirus/christmas/stayingatkeele/ - there are in the region of 200 students staying on campus over Christmas so plenty of people to chat to if required. Some suggestions :- 1) Plan ahead just in case, buy milk/bread and freeze it, tinned non-perishable items etc so you have surplus in case you do need to isolate. 2) Join the University Facebook Group 3) Student Welfare appointments are available if required see below 4) If you are self-isolating and have reported it to CRT, you will receive a daily phone call over the period (excl Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day) to check everything is ok. PLEASE REMEMBER …… If you are staying in Shropshire over the Christmas holidays and find yourself with any COVID issues please remember to still contact the SATH absence line and the CRT at Keele.

The School of Medicine Student Welfare Office will not be closing its (virtual) doors over the festive period. The Student Welfare email account will be monitored throughout.

Wendy's Christmas message;

Dear lovely SaTH students

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a relaxing holiday and good “quiet” Christmas where every you may be.

What an “interesting” year we have had and we would like to congratulate you all in your pro-active approach and getting really stuck in and involved with the departments you have been on placement with. We often hear from various sources how much part of the teams you have become and are really helping the wards and patients. For you to do this amidst the pandemic is very much appreciated by the SaTH workforce.

It has been very strange not having as much contact with you all as we would have done in normal times, so it is heart-warming to hear that you are all doing so well. We obviously hope that some of you will consider coming back to work at the Trust in the future.

A strange year, so much fear,

Families tested, friendships rested,

Home-online fun, why so glum?

Make time for simple pleasure,

A walk, Zoom meal, moments to treasure,

Here’s to better times to come,

Here’s to a brighter 2021!

Wishing you all the very best for a Happy Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you virtually in January !

Best wishes from Wendy and all the SaTH team
