It was lovely to meet most of you in person over the last week or so, and apologies if I haven’t met you personally yet; these strange new times have spoilt our usual Induction plans. I hope you are all settling in and ready to start the academic year.
We were pleased you all liked your pillowcases and goodie bags. The pillow cases and caps were made by volunteers during the Covid Crisis and we scoured Facebook and ventured into Telford in order to get you the nicest ones. The goodie bags, were provided by the SaTH Charity “Small Things Make a Big Difference” to welcome you all to the Trust. The team found things they thought you would like and find useful for your studies. I found the poem on a medical student blog and thought it might amuse you! 😉
Some of the 5th years kindly “volunteered” to pose in the scrubs and hats (there was very little persuasion on my part is all I’m going to say) thank you very much. We have passed these onto our Communications Team to announce your arrival to the Trust in the Trust’s Newsletter Chatterbox. With your smart new scrubs which go so well with your green lanyards, you’ll be easy to recognise.
I know that some of you will be feeling a bit nervous coming back to the clinical world, but I’m sure you will soon overcome those feelings with the support of the teams around you. As Dr Srinivasan told you in his introduction that if any of you have any problems or concerns, bring them to use so that we can help support you in any way we can, so please don’t feel worried about doing so, we’re a friendly bunch.
You will soon get used to our SaTH ways - one of these being my random Friday Emails which I send to you (...not every week 😉) but just to keep in touch.
Remember we are all here to help and support you and make this important year successful.
Have fun -work hard & KEEP SAFE!
Best wishes
Wendy and the UG team
