To coincide with World Sepsis Day, we are taking the opportunity to formally launch our Sepsis eLearning Workbook. This was created through a Rapid Process Improvement Workshop (RPIW) by the team on AMU PRH and then further developed by Ward 28 on a follow up RPIW. This was part of the Trust’s Sepsis Value Stream.
We have seen over the last 12 months that recognition of signs and symptoms of Sepsis is an area that we could improve, and that members of staff are given necessary information if a patient needs help.

The Sepsis eLearning booklet is available via the Intranet which can be viewed on any trust computer via this link -http://intranet/sepsis/sepsis_elearning.asp
This training is available and applicable to everyone, so we would like all members of staff to complete it. We are hoping that this may form part of mandatory training in the future. The importance of this knowledge was highlighted earlier this year when a patient arrived in Radiology showing signs of Sepsis. The Newsletter attached tells the story of quick thinking by a member of staff that resulted in a patient’s care being escalated to AMU and treated with the Sepsis Bundle.

With the great support of the Web Development Team and Corporate Education, we have been able to make the learning workbook easier to complete and submit. All submissions will get sent to Corporate Education so it can be recorded on ESR. An email will also go to your line manager to show that you have completed the learning. This is a great way to demonstrate coverage across the Trust, so we can understand how well we are doing.
We would encourage all Line Managers to support their teams to complete the workbook, it takes approximately 5 minutes. Please pass this on to members of your team who do not have access to email.
The link to the workbook can also be found on the front page of the Intranet.
Go to the Apps section and click on the Sepsis eLearning icon.
